12c Database : New release is out 12.1.0.2 – some new features

For 12c, the new full release has been released i.e 12.1.0.2

The relevant note is
12.1.0.2.0 Patchset Location For "12.1 Grid Infrastructure (CRS, ASM & ACFS)” And “12.1 RDBMS (Database)”. (Doc ID 1910494.1)
And the relevant pathch is Patchset 17694377.

There are some important features to note worthy with this release.

1. In memory column storage
2. Clone a remote PDB or NON_PDB (restrictions lifted)
4. FDA is supported in this release
5. Advance Index compression
6. CREATE_FILE_DEST param for PDB datafile location for OMF
7. Lot of enhancements to PDB's container clause, Logging and no logging clause, stanby's clause etc.
8. Zone maps - for physical IO Distributions, Accessing only the relevant data optimizes the I/O necessary to satisfy a query, increasing the performance significantly and reducing the resource consumption

Grid Infrastructure & ASM
1. Enhancements in Grid Installation screens (Grid repository automatically created), No ask of software updates, etc. (still i have to catch them up)
2. ASM Password maintains in diskgroup i.e shared
3. TAF new utility to collect diagnostics
4. Oracle ASM Filter Driver (Oracle ASMFD) is a kernel module that resides in the I/O path of the Oracle ASM disks. Oracle ASM uses the filter driver to validate write I/O requests to Oracle ASM disks.
5. ACFS support on windows
